Sustainability

Our Environmental Commitment
We started Zilvra925 because we believed the jewelry industry could do better by its customers. We quickly realized it also needed to do better by the planet. Mining silver and gemstones takes a toll on ecosystems and communities. Traditional packaging generates enormous waste. Shipping products around the world burns carbon. We decided to confront these realities head-on rather than look away.
Sustainability isn’t a marketing angle for us. It’s woven into how we source materials, design products, run our facilities, and ship to your door. We’re not perfect. We make trade-offs. But we’re committed to getting better every year, measuring our progress honestly, and sharing the results with you.
Materials: What’s in Our Jewelry
Every piece of Zilvra925 jewelry starts with certified recycled sterling silver. We work exclusively with suppliers who source silver from post-consumer and post-industrial recycled streams — old electronics, industrial applications, and previously owned jewelry. This recycled silver is chemically identical to newly mined silver but requires up to 95% less energy to refine.
• 100% recycled sterling silver across all collections
• Ethically sourced gemstones from mines with documented labor and environmental standards
• Conflict-free materials verified through our supply chain audit program
• No nickel in any of our alloys, making our pieces hypoallergenic
• Transparent sourcing — we can trace every batch of silver to its recycling origin
Our gemstones come from a small network of mines in Sri Lanka, Zambia, and Brazil that we’ve visited personally. These mines pay fair wages, follow environmental regulations, and invest in local community development. We pay premium prices for these stones because we believe cheap gemstones always cost someone, somewhere.

Packaging: Zero Plastic, Zero Waste
The unboxing experience shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense. Every Zilvra925 order ships in packaging designed to leave no trace.
• 100% recyclable outer mailers made from post-consumer recycled paper
• Biodegradable jewelry boxes crafted from FSC-certified cardboard and cotton-based materials
• Soy-based inks on all printed materials
• Zero plastic — no bubble wrap, no poly bags, no plastic tape
• Reusable pouches included with every piece, made from organic cotton
• Seed paper thank-you cards that can be planted to grow wildflowers
Our packaging costs us 40% more per unit than conventional alternatives. We absorb that cost because we believe it’s the right thing to do, and we know our customers agree.
Carbon-Neutral Shipping
Every Zilvra925 order ships carbon-neutral. We calculate the carbon footprint of each shipment based on distance, weight, and transport method, then purchase verified carbon offsets through Gold Standard-certified reforestation and renewable energy projects.
But offsets aren’t enough. We’re also working to reduce shipping emissions at the source:
• Consolidated warehousing to reduce split shipments — 94% of orders ship complete from one location
• Route optimization that reduces average delivery distance by 12%
• Electric vehicle partnerships for last-mile delivery in major metropolitan areas
• Customer education on slower shipping options with lower carbon impact
Our goal is carbon-negative shipping by 2028 — removing more carbon from the atmosphere than our logistics generate.

Circular Economy: Beyond the Sale
We design jewelry to last decades, not seasons. When something goes wrong, we want to fix it. When you’re done with a piece, we want it back.
• Lifetime repair service on all Zilvra925 pieces for manufacturing defects
• Paid repair program for damage outside warranty — we’ll fix it for a fair price
• Recycling program — send us any old sterling silver jewelry (any brand) and receive store credit
• Take-back initiative — return unwanted Zilvra925 pieces for recycling or resale through our pre-loved platform
• Design for durability — we engineer pieces to withstand daily wear because disposable jewelry is wasteful jewelry
Since launching our recycling program in 2021, customers have sent us over 2,800 pieces of old silver jewelry. We’ve recycled every gram into new creations.
Water and Energy
Jewelry production uses water and energy. We work to minimize both.
Our primary manufacturing facility in Bangkok runs on 73% renewable energy from a combination of rooftop solar and purchased wind power. We’re working with our facility partner to reach 100% renewable by 2026. Water used in the polishing and finishing process is filtered and recirculated, reducing freshwater consumption by 68% compared to standard practices.
We publish these numbers even when they’re imperfect. Transparency matters more than a polished story.
Transparency and Accountability
Every spring, we publish an annual sustainability report covering energy use, water consumption, carbon emissions, waste generation, and supply chain audits. You can download the full report from our website. We include the numbers that make us proud and the ones that don’t.
We also publish our supplier list — not every brand does this — because we believe you have a right to know where your jewelry comes from.

Why This Matters
Silver mining is one of the most environmentally destructive extractive industries. A single gold ring generates roughly 20 tons of mining waste. While silver’s impact is smaller, it still matters. Every gram of recycled silver we use is a gram that didn’t come from a mine. Every plastic-free package is one less item in a landfill. Every repair we make is one less replacement manufactured.
We do this work because we believe business can be a force for good. Not perfect. Not pure. Just steadily, measurably better.
